While investors participating in donation-based crowdfunding receive no remuneration for their contributions (though they may derive indirect personal benefits through the act of donation; Andreoni 1989), in reward-based crowdfunding they receive some form of non-monetary consideration.
Most of the companies are active in the payments segment, followed by 65 companies from the donation and reward-based crowdfunding subsegments.
Crowdfunding consists of the donation and reward-based crowdfunding subsegment, the crowdinvesting subsegment, and the crowdlending subsegment.
Platforms for donation and reward-based crowdfunding only accounted for 13% of the financed volume in 2015 (Fig. 4.3).
The largest subsegments are the donation and reward-based crowdfunding subsegments, in which 49 businesses are currently active, followed by crowdinvesting, which has 29 platforms.
